About sasta.ae

sasta.ae shows what a phone, tablet or laptop costs at every UAE store we track, whether it's Sealed New, Certified Pre-Owned or pre-owned.

We started it because pre-owned prices are hard to compare. One store calls a phone "Excellent", another sells the same phone as "Grade B", and a third doesn't say. So we sort every listing into our own condition grades. If you look at Excellent iPhones here, every price you see is for a phone we place in Excellent. Where a store doesn't publish its criteria, the placement is our estimate, marked ≈ in our grade mapping.

How we compare prices

  1. We collect each store's listings and note the price, storage, colour, region version, warranty and battery details, plus the date we checked.
  2. Each listing is matched to the exact model. If it names a storage size that model never came in, we leave the listing out. If it names a colour that model never came in, we keep the price but don't show the colour.
  3. Store condition labels go on our scale. Stores label the same condition differently ("Excellent" at one, "Very Good" at another), so each store label is mapped to one of our grades. If a store doesn't give a condition, we say so. If we worked it out from the listing description, we flag it.
  4. Prices change all the time, so every product page shows when we last checked. Our prices are indicative only: confirm the final price, delivery and warranty with the store before you pay.

Store ratings are based on what we found in each store's warranty and returns policy. How store checks work

Where price history comes from

Each product page's price history chart shows the lowest new and pre-owned price we recorded across UAE stores, one point per day, starting from the day we began recording that product.

For Apple products and Samsung phones, the new-price line before that day is the brand's own price on its UAE online store: Apple's list price on apple.com/ae, and Samsung's selling price on samsung.com/ae, offers included. We take it from copies of those store pages saved by the Internet Archive's Wayback Machine. That is one store's price, not the lowest across stores, so the chart labels that part of the line. Between two saved copies we assume the price stayed the same.

Microsoft doesn't sell Surface devices on its own UAE store, so for Surface that earlier part of the line is one retailer's price instead (Sharaf DG or Jumbo), from saved copies of its product pages, and the chart names the store.
